Daisy Stitch Test Sock Pattern







Daisy Sock Pattern

Notions
US size 1 needle set of 5 dpn (or whatever size needed to obtain gauge)
Darning needle

Gauge = 8 stitches per inch

Yarn
Tempted hand painted yarn in Guerilla Grrl Colorway
Or any fingering weight yarn
A small amount of smooth contrasting color fingering weight waste yarn

Using your favorite toe-up cast on cast on 24 stitches.
Round 1 – Knit
Round 2 – K1, yo, knit to last stitch on needle 2, yo, k1
Repeat for needles 3 & 4

Continue these two rounds until you have 60 stitches (give or take 5 as needed for foot width. 60 stitches produces a 7” circumference).

After you reach 60 stitches, knit 5 rows stockinette. Start the pattern stitch on needles 1 & 2. Continue in stockinette on needles 3&4.

Daisy Stitch Pattern:

Round 1 : *Knit 5, Insert tip of right needle into the stitch 3 rows below the 3rd stitch on the left needle, wrap yarn around the needle and Pull up the loop, k2, pull up a loop in the same stitch as the previous loop, k3, pull up loop in same stitch as the previous loops* repeat from * to *
Round 2 : *Knit 5, K2tog, k 1, k2tog, k 1, k2tog* repeat from * to * to end
Rounds 3-5 : Knit
Round 6 : *Insert the tip of the right needle into the stitch 3 rows below the 3rd stitch on the left needle, wrap yarn around he needle and pull up the loop, k2, pull up a loop in the same stitch as the previous loop, k3, pull up loop in the same stitch as the previous loops, k5* Repeat from * to *
Round 7 : *K2tog, k 1, k2tog, k 1, k2tog, k5* repeat from * to *.
Rounds 8-10 : Knit

Knit to desired foot length, ending on either row 4 or row 9.

Place waste yarn for the afterthought heel:
Knit stitches on needles 1 & 2 in pattern. Use waste yarn to knit across needles 3 & 4, then return to the beginning of needle 3 and knit again with the main yarn as usual.

Continue working the pattern only on needles 1 & 2 for one more repeat then begin working patteron on all 4 needles.
Knit for the desired length of the cuff of the sock ( example has 3½ pattern repeats). End with row 4 or 9.

Work K1, P1 rib for 10 rows and bind off loosely.

Remove the waste yarn by picking out the stitches. Do not cut. Place the stitches on 2 DPNs.

You will have 30 stitches on 1 needle and 29 on the other. Pick up 1 stitch on the bottom needle. Put 15 stitches onto each of the separate needles. Knit one round, picking up 2 stitches at each side of opening. (16 Stitches on each needle)
Continue as follows:

Heel Round 1 & all odd Heel Rounds: knit
Heel Round 2: *k1, ssk, knit to last 3 sts on needle 2, k2tog, k1* repeat between *.
Continue until there are 44 stitches left (11 on each needle).

Next round, *ssk, knit to last 3 sts on needle 2, k2tog* repeat between * on needles 3 & 4.
Graft the stitches together using kitchener stitch.
